Hi Steve. Twitter appears to have changed it's <a href="https://twitter.com/tos" target"_blank" rel="nofollow">Terms of Service in September.

Now the use of Twitter is restricted to people aged 18 or over (or who are legally emancipated).

They used to allow people over 13 to use Twitter, but now they've specified that you need to be able to 'form a binding contract with Twitter'. It appears that under contract law, only people over 18 are deemed capable of entering a contract. Click for New Twitter Terms of Service Bars Anyone Under the Age of 18

As far as Tweetdeck goes, it's just a tool for accessing Twitter. So the same restrictions apply.

Thanks for your comment Steve. If you hadn't commented, I wouldn't have checked.

Thanks for your info on age restrictions. Could you advise whether there are age restrictions for Twitter and Tweetdeck? My daughter (who is 11) was told she had to get on Tweetdeck for a class she's taking in grade 6...

While I'm a fan of new media in the classroom, I think it's important that solid policies and checks be in place before moving ahead on such a decision - particularly with kids.

Thoughts?
