I’m Mark and this is my blog. It’s a revitalised recombombulation of a couple of old blogs that got spammed and neglected. I transfered the posts, but sadly I had to leave most of the comments behind in a bilge of spam.

I work in EduTech R&D. I’m a project manager for educational projects. I’m also involved in Knowledge Management. I’m one of the VPs of iKMS.

I write this blog for myself. A bit like a conventional diary. So I write here to keep a record of what I think and do, mainly because I think it helps me to reflect on what I’m doing. I’m normally pretty bad at reflecting on what I do. So I find that writing stuff down helps me to form my ideas, a bit.

But of course, in writing this I have a reader in mind, and that reader is probably you. So if you’re reading this, then please comment on a post or two. I’ll be delighted. I’ll respond eventually if you comment, but don’t expect me to respond immediately. Twitter is better for that: @Markhamster

In this blog I try to focus on e-tools and e-tips for work and for education.

Most of the e-tools you’ll read about here are either portable: you can fit them on your thumb-drive, or mobile phone; or they’re tools you’ll be able to use online.

For e-tools, wherever possible, I try to make sure that…

  • You can use them anywhere: classroom, staffroom, bus, etc…
  • you won’t need to ask your IT department’s permission to use them (because you won’t need to install anything on their machines).
  • They’re free \O/

The e-tips I hope will show you how to …

  • get the most out of the e-tools yourself
  • help other people get the most out of the e-tools

There are also posts on things I’m involved in, like project management, DIY user-centred design, notes from workshops and conferences and anything else I’ve found or thought up that fits here.

A bit more about me… I work for an educational not-for-profit. I’m also the Vice-President of iKMS. I manage Web projects and have designed e-learning applications. I’m originally from London, but now based in Singapore. I’m married with 3 kids. I’m a bit of a gamer: I play far too much World of Warcraft and love playing Wii with my kids. I used to be a DJ, I used to produce electronic music and am now re-learning the guitar.
